Reader comment on item: Turkey in Cyprus vs. Israel in Gaza

Submitted by Anon (Turkey), Jul 22, 2010 at 17:35

It's always necessary to read history and ask questions. Why did Turkey intervene in Cyprus? What is ENOSIS? What is AKRITAS PLAN? Who are the EOKA-B? Without metioning these, it's absolutely irrelevant to draw similarities between Gaza and Turkish part of Cyprus. Turkey had to intervene to save the Turkish Cypriots from ethnic cleansing. It was a legal move as Turkey was one of the guaranteer state along with Britain. Britain also agreed with this move. Greeks initiated an ethnic cleansing campaign against the Turks in the island and massacred civilians, including babies and elderly. Even now Greek Cypriots Army recruits train by chanting 'Only good Turk is a dead Turk!' How very peaceful, eh?!
