Reader comment on item: Turkey in Cyprus vs. Israel in Gaza
in response to reader comment: Unimplemented plans vs. conspicuous facts or Enosis à la turque

Terve Ianus,

I have probably read most of your posts on this site and become awestruck by your erudition in matters of Turkish history. Now one thought has begun to haunt my mind: the influence of Genghis Khan on the origin of Turkish population All elucidation is welcome!

Tamerlane (Timur), a 14th century figure - about a century later than Genghis - may also play a role. Both apparently came from the deep of inner Asia.
Btw, I faintly remember I once heard an audio program (c cassette), telling about Genghis Khan's grave. A bit odd, because no one seems to know the exact location. Anyway, according to this program many local people doggedly claim they have seen his spirit hovering above the burial ground. Must be an urban myth.
