Production of Franz Werfel's famous novel "The forty Days of Musa Dagh" into a movie was scheduled to begin in 1934. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Forty_Days_of_Musa_Dagh

The head of MGM at the time was Louis Mayer, of Jewish faith. I wonder if the 1934 pogrom influenced his decision to abandon the project.
