in response to reader comment: Question for Ianus

Hi, Aymenn Jawad !

Thanks a lot for your very appreciative words. But I am afraid that it would take a few thick volumes to write a roughly satisfactory history of Cyprus since 1945. A terse and fairly competent account of the events and problems around Cyprus from 1878 to about 2004 is given in a Wikipedia article "A Modern history of Cyprus" . It's worth reading as I think such general outlines are always useful as a first approximation of the subject.

Hi Ianus:

Great work in demolishing the Turkish propagandists! Could you give me a concise account of the history of Cyprus from independence from th UK up to the immediate aftermath of the Turkish invasion?
