Religion and politics together is a total and dishonest lie.

Reader comment on item: Does Turkey Still Belong in NATO?

Kevin,

I agree with you partially.

What Mr. President of ours says in Davos and in NATO is mostly a show to some investors of the Islamic world, and to the fundementalist minority in Turkey. He does not listen to anyone and acts as if he is the king but not the democratic president. He does not listen to the foreign ministry or diplomats of Turkey.

We are not afraid from Israel, why should we? No body in Turkey thinks anything like that. When I say Davos was a show, I say that because Israel is involved in many big projects in Turkey. Even Israel newspapers wrote it this way. Not a secret.

In Canada parliament, our government's works were critisized and also the recent elections, that the election had not done properly, which in some ways and unfortunately, is right. Most probably, Mr. President was angry because of that. Our journalists are put in jail just because they do the same, critisize. This is very new in Turkey and we fight against this attitude of the government.

Any way, governments are not forever, they come and go. But could you tell me why the western presidents claim that this government is the best one they had ever seen, just because they can make him do whatever they want, which are mostly for their benefits but against ours. For example, it is the western governments say all the time that we should have an İslamic Party. Politics and religion together is just a disaster, for both, the religion and the country. They promote this government in all the ways that can be seen in Hollyood films. Tell me Kevin, what is nice about this. Ofcourse no one can harm anyone if they are smart enough. But could you please tell me if you know any country, where money buys the media and fill with some greedy journalists and put the rest into the jail under false accusations, can all the cıtızens be so smart to be able to see behind the media.

What you say about wars sounds right but what about Iraq?

There is not a single fair reason for attacking Iraq. And nothing is better for them now, a complete disaster. All the history (all historical museums and buildings are ruined, all information gone), so many people died, and still dying. Different sectors of people were living together now apart from the invadors they kill each other. Can you say that this blame and shame is their fault. Please be honest. No country saves another country. Never. All is for the sake of his country or let's say for the future investment plans of some international holdings. Rebuilt, guns etc..

We still see no war around which is our war.

All we say is "please take away your shadow that has fallen on us". Fixing our problems is our business.

Let me also note, Turkish people know that we can never rely on any other country but are never hateful to any nation. We have a very long history to learn by hard that the thing to do is not letting any one harm you, be strong enough. Not so easy all the time. Hope these days will end soon. Turkish people is learning that there is nothing as a religious government. That's a very big lie to cover the greedy and dishonest people with the intention of filling their pockets.
