Reader comment on item: Does Turkey Still Belong in NATO?
in response to reader comment: Ghazi

Submitted by berk akk (Turkey), Apr 29, 2009 at 01:54

Dear Ianus

1-Ghazi word may have its original mean as your description. As you are good searcher ,according to me your big mistake is arranging your search results in wrong chronoligical order. Dear sir, ghazi term is used for any one injured in a war of defending his country against invaders since more than 100 years. There are many non muslim, non turkish ghazis in Turkey especialy at ww1..Unbelievable?

2-I am already astonished for your supposition of Ghazi M.Kemal as jihadist as your description term.A man who changed all religious laws of ottoman empire to secular constitution.?His ghazi title was due to an shell injury in a battlefield ,the battlefield in his homeland:) not in another land.

Best Regards
