Reader comment on item: Does Turkey Still Belong in NATO?
in response to reader comment: The Greek name "Itsanbul"

Submitted by BERKA AKK (Turkey), May 3, 2009 at 12:41

"It was founded in 667 B.C. by the Greek colonists from Megara under king Byzas , son of Nisos"

667 bc One day Byzas was going around bosphorus and decide to built a city.so simple.Foundation of a city does not smimiliar to make a football team. There are still new excavations in istanbul historical bases dates back to 7000 years ago.It is the transition point of makind and used nearly 50 000 years.see national geo tv.

"With this argument in mind one can easily kick the Turks out of Anatolia back into the Karakorum desert telling them after the fact "It all depends on historical conditions ... and they have changed , you know."

Exactly you are right. They had tryed to kick many times and when have enough power will try again

"another Grek name "Istanbul" (=EIS THN POLI) with a specific narrow meaning but allegedly better Turkish sounding, was adopted to designate Constantinople" This made me to remember sun langage theory.if you like we can discuss it.

"One could wonder why the Turks suddenly are so fond, appreciative and enthusiastic about the 'lost populations', mysterious ancient nations of the Hittites, the Phrygians while they detest and deny all historical rights to their homes to the historically excellently documented nations of the Armenians and the Greeks"

I dont want to start a new discusion but if iou like we can.when the turks had come to anotolia said populations had been exterminated hundreds of years ago.this is another serious subject.

"Turkish historical dogmas according to which Turks are native (sic!) to Anatolia because they descend directly from the Sumerians and the Hittites and the Phrygians. Turkish is after all the pre-language of humanity, both Sumerian and Hittite are of Turkic origins and modern Turks are 'legitimate' heirs to these populations, as Ghazi Kemal taught."

Continental human migration due to various reasons is comon in history.Origins of american natives almost proven to come from various parts of asia through bering sea.Anyway origins of all humans ofcourse can reach up to one language .From a different point of view there has been some unproven evidences about the return of a oguz turks to anadolia back.who knows they had been kicked before from anatolia and they escaped from a extermination work..As far as i guess you dont want to enter into this subject.
