Christianity is what E.A.

Reader comment on item: Islam's Future [Can Be Modern]
in response to reader comment: Christianity is more "fundamentalist" and "evil" than Islam

Nice facts... Pick them up in your imagination.

1. Nazis were Christian. Ok, Hitler himself, when a group of German religious leaders met with him to discuss their concerns for, as they put it "the soul of Germany," is quoted as saying "Germany's soul belongs to me."

2. No doubt Europeans brought Africans to America to be slaves (and it was an atrocity) -- but, thought you'd at least like to know that those Africans were not Islamic.

3. The Bible was not used to justify slavery - economics was. Oh... and the Bible was used to justify the constitution giving equal rights and freedom and the pusuit of happiness to all men under its rule. (and women -- I forgot to be politically correct)

4. Wow - you're right - a pope did declare the crusades. However (not to defend it), it wasn't to kill Muslims -- it was to "reclaim the Holyland" which is the land of the birth of Christianity taken from Christians by the Ottoman Empire and their swords. By the way -- they were Islamic (please excuse any mispellings)

5. Once again you are right -- I am impressed. The inquisition was held by the Catholic Church and yes it was (edited) up. But it had nothing to do with the Bible or Christianity. You see the Catholic church has been for quite a while now a political power and the inquisition was about retaining that political power with fear.
Don't blame it on Jesus, man - He was just a fisherman.

6. Yes, you're right about the native Americans too -- I remember sermons given by the great pastors of the 19th century that said take up your rifles and kill the indians.

Actually - the U.S. Army killed and robbed the Indians of their land so Americans like you and me can live on it. Oh, and we didn't ship them - we made them walk. Everybody knows that.

7. As far as Cortez goes... Can you blame him? (oh sorry - my politically incorrect side popped out again.)

Anyway... it was fun.
