Reader comment on item: Islam's Future [Can Be Modern]
in response to reader comment: Hear it from a Muslim

As a Christian, I find it hard to be sympathetic towards your beliefs when you are so unsympathetic towards my own faith. In your rebuttal statement, you said "Christianity is dead". I have to argue against that statement. My faith is alive and kicking. My God is stronger than ever. My God loves you AND me....regardless of whether or not you love Him back. My God desires a relationship with EVERY person on this earth....not just those that can yell the loudest.

Can we live in peace? My God says we must try. We must live our lives in a way that is glorifying to Him, love our neighbors (which translates to EVERYONE), and spread the news of His unconditional love to the world.

I work with a young Muslim woman. She is a wonderful person. I count her as a friend. I have respect for her faith. In a world turning more and more towards faith in themselves, I'm glad she has a faith in something other than herself. I wish she would turn her eyes towards Christianity. I know she could find a rewarding personal relationship with God through our faith. I see her practice Muslim rituals, but I honestly do not see a difference in her every day life. I hope people can see that difference in me because of my faith in Christ.

Although I don't agree with everything Mulsims believe in, I can respect parts of your religion. I can befriend Muslims (just like any other person:)). I can live peacefully with them. I realize the Muslim faith is not "going away". In a crazy way, knowing another faith is out there like Islam only pushes me to know more about my own faith and embrace my own faith/beliefs more every day.

I pray for you and your brothers and sisters in Islam. I pray that God would take a people who are so devout and refocus them to the Himself so they can move for the good of the world. If all of the Muslim world came to Christ, the work of God could be done in a way this world has never seen! That is exciting stuff!

As I keep you in my prayers, I hope you can find it in your heart and mind to understand the Christian perspective....just as you wish for us to understand your faith. I'll keep trying to learn about you faith. I'll meet you half way. Please be open to relationships with Christians. There are a LOT of us who care deeply about you and your people.

Have a good day.
