Reader comment on item: Islam's Future [Can Be Modern]

There seems an ad nauseam repetition of so called Koranic verse "kill the infidels". This lack of ignorance borders on mischief. It has become fashionable to quote this without any knowledge of the truth. In this reply, I am answering all the ignoramuses.

Often there's so little appreciation of the context that it's easy to fall prey to malicious and mischievious propaganda. Verses 4:91 & 8:57 are most quoted by ignorants to delude themselves into believing that Islam enjoins muslims to kill infidels. It is enlightening to review the truth in light of the verses just preceding the afore-mentioned verses.

------------------------
(Quran verse 4:90) "Except those who are connected with such a people between whom and you there is a pact, or they come to you because their hearts have no strength to fight against you or fight their own people. And if Allah had so pleased, He would certainly have given them control over you, then they would have surely fought with you. So if they keep aloof from you and fight you not, and make you an offer of peace, then Allah has opened no way for you against them."

(Quran verse 4:91) "Now you will find some such other who desire, that they may be safe from you and may be safe from their people too, whenever their people turn them towards mischief they fall head long into it then if they do not keep aloof from you and
nor offer you peace and withhold not their hands, seize them and kill them where-ever you find. And these are against whom We have given you clear authority."
---------------------------

Clearly the injunction to kill is ONLY against those who "turn them towards mischief they fall head long into it then if they do not keep aloof from you and nor offer you peace and withhold not their hands"

----------------------------
(Quran verse 8:56) "Those with whom you had entered into a covenant, then they break their covenant every time and do not fear. "

(Quran verse 8:57) "Therefore, if you find them anywhere in war, kill them in such a manner that their remaining ones may be put to flight. Haply they may be admonished. "
----------------------------

Clearly this injunction relates to ONLY against those that "break their covenant every time" and ONLY "if you find them anywhere in WAR".

I advise all non-muslims to appreciate the above truth and not be misled into believing what vested quarters may want them to. Just to illustrate my point, I can quote Biblical verses "out of context" to show how outwardly violent Christianity & Judaism are.

For example, the Bible says "Now therefore, kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him. But all the young girls who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves all the Virgins." (Numbers 31:17-18)

And later in verse 35: "the Jews took 32,000 virgins for themselves." (Numbers 31:35)

In the Quran you will never find such a command to kill women and children

Another verse in the New Testament says, "Think not that I come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace but a sword ." (Matthew 10:34)

The word sword is never mentioned in the Quran.

I rest my case against all baseless accusations that Islam enjoins muslims to "go out and kill the infidels"
