Reader comment on item: Islam's Future [Can Be Modern]

Submitted by Nadir Sadiq (United States), Aug 13, 2002 at 13:47

Dear reader:
All those who have added to the discussion about Islam being militant need to go to their libraries and pull out books on Islam. As for one Islam is not by any standard a militant religion, it has become militant in everyone's eye because few loonies have twisted it to serve their own purpose. If you call Islam militant based on such uneducated conclusions then Christianity is the worst of them all, people - innocent people were put to the gallows during the Crusades.

Islam has only taken up sword when fight was enthrusted upon them. Mohammad (PBUH) never started a fight it was only the non-believers who forced him to take up arms. Islam deals with practical solutions, i.e. there is so much one can take before getting angry and getting up to fight. It tells you only to take up arms if war is pushed to your home or if the freedom to practice religion is taken away. Again people need to read books on Islam to get the true facts. How can anyone say that it is a militant religion when it is from the same God who sent the previous religions?

As for Islam adjusting to modern times, it is already very liberal. People even now a days fight over equal rights for women well SURPRISE Islam constituted this order from day one. Islam does not stop any one form doing any thing but as long as the person follows certain rules and mind you those rules have cause no hindrance in any shape and form.
