Sentiments of "one" in the west

Reader comment on item: Islam's Future [Can Be Modern]

Submitted by Preatin (United States), Jan 15, 2004 at 19:38

Before 9/11 no one really knew much or cared about Islam or Muslims. How things have changed! The world has taken and is taking a very critical look at Muslims and Islam and the world is not at all liking what it is seeing. Islam for most people means death and destruction. Is it no wonder that non-Muslims equate to Islam and Mulims abject poverty, illiteracy, and a backwardness unparralleled in modern history??
At the rate Muslims are teaching non-Muslims to hate them, it will be a wonder if it survives another 50 years. Islam is teaching non-Muslims that it can not co-exist with other people and religions.
If Muslims are to ever gain respect in the world, then they will have to give up murder and terrorism as a means to advance them selves. Perhaps only then will Almighty God bless them as he has so richly blessed America and the west in general. Until then Muslims will continue to be cursed and plagued with poverty, illiteracy and shame for their clothing. They will be forever the tail and not the head in world matters.
It seems to me that Muslims really do not care what evil other Muslims do in the world. Part of the problem is that the so-called peaceful Muslims are so very content to allow the terrorists to define what Islam is or is not. If the number of terrorists were found in any other religion in the numbers they are found in Islam, the people of that religion would be marching in the streets in protest to what is being done to bring shame on it. Where are the Muslim protesters?? Where is the outrage??
Why is it that in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, etc. if a person converts from Islam to another religion, they can be put to death?? Is this the Islam to be proud of? I guess it's certainly one way to keep your flock loyal. Like the mafia, the only way to get out is in a body bag. Is this a religion to be proud of?? What are Muslims so afraid of that they must threaten their own people with a death sentence if they choose another religion of their own accord???
