You are somewhat right, you know, I can't go against 1 billion people in general for 50,000 (or whatever..) fighters who are instrumentalizing islam in order to achieve their goals. I know what christianity is trying to tell, as you said, a message of love and respect. What I find wrong in every religion is pretending to know what God wants if no one has ever talked to him, that's all. I forgot to say another thing, I can't seriously believe that there are some people who really blame homosexuality for natural disasters, that only means they are not living in the world of reality, because these events, such earthquakes, have been happening long before humans ever existed.
