Reader comment on item: Islam's Future [Can Be Modern]

Submitted by Sakib (United Kingdom), Dec 13, 2006 at 05:08

Islam is in my opinion not evil but it definitely needs to adapt to modern life (in some of the countries, as there are Muslim countries that are modern such as Dubai, Morocco and Turkey). It really annoys me that Muslims aren't progressing scientifically and technologically (which is a duty of every Muslim). I do hate the terrorists and militants that generalise about the West being 'corrupt'. On the other hand I really despise people that generalise Islam as 'evil'.

The actual main parts of being a Muslim are peaceful eg praying and fasting and pilgrimage and this is the main tenets of Islam. About violent chapters in the Quran, really they shouldn't be taken literally as some of the other verses.

Honestly I dont see why everyone cant live in peace and harmony, I dont have a problem with Jews and Christians and I just ignore any racial abuse that I get.
