Reader comment on item: Islam's Future [Can Be Modern]
in response to reader comment: Christianity is more "fundamentalist" and "evil" than Islam

The charge that Nazis were Christians is an amazing display of confusion as to what the core belief system of Nazism actually asserted. Nazism was based completely on a Darwinian, materialist view of the world, as are all other manifestations of socialism. (Yes, NAZI stands for National Socialist Party.)

There is little sense in sifting through the history books to find every atrocity committed under the auspices of Christianity and Islam to compare the results. The issue we are faced is that real people who are alive today live under a cultural/political system called "Islam."

If Islam were not labelled a "religion" and it were viewed as a political system (like Communism), nobody would be willing to defend it. In an Islamic society, converting away from Islam is nearly a death sentence. The idea that people should be free to believe according to their conscience is anathema to Islamic law. Women are treated like chattel. People get their hands cut off for stealing a loaf of bread. People are regularly hanged for speaking their mind (blasphemy). People in the Islamic world are living behind a true Quranic Curtain that is no less friendly to human rights than the old Soviet Iron Curtain.
