Reader comment on item: Islam's Future [Can Be Modern]

There is a saying - history repeats. I believe this can be applied to understanding what is going on in the Muslim world.
Looking back at Judaism, there was a point in time were there was a militant version of Judaism - true it was long time ago, During the Helenistic and Roman empire times. After a soul searching process the Jewish Sages agreed on leaving behind the militarism and advocating and promoting the other side of Judaism.

Christianity went through the same development. It practically took World War II for the Christian leaders to promote and educate peace and tolerance.

Islam, being much younger thaen Christianity and Judaism, is still in it's militalistic stage.
It is true that one can see the advantages of Islam maturing in the same way, the problem is that it can only come from within the Muslim world. They need to engage in a soul rearching process, from which they can change thier society.

Here is where I see the problem, The Muslim world is not ready, is not mature enough, to do this. The weapons are more dangerous, the harm it can cost the world is endless. I am not sure we have the time to let them mature at their own pace.
Is there a solution, education I suppose, but who will do it, and how?

Every religion has within it a militaristic force, it is how it is used and who are the ones in charge that makes the difference.
