I don't know about this that or the other, but I do know that my first real exposure to Islamic idealism came in the form of planes flying into buildings. That alone is enough to cause SERIOUS questioning of the value of embracing such a political agenda. And, personally, I think more people are 'joining' more for the hope of escaping violence and persecution just so they can get on with their lives unmolested and left alone by fanatics than for any active effort to pursue their ideal beliefs. Maybe in time they come to convince themselves and become believers, but I'm betting that first step is more one of coercion than joyful intent.
