Reader comment on item: Ban Islam?
in response to reader comment: to Charles Martel on Saudis n Ameica: its not about owning Bush

We had best be able to understand Islam and face Islam head on as did the original Charles Martel at Tours.
There were others with the same foresight and ability that came along later. Don Juan of Austria led the Christian fleet at Lepanto in 1571, an Islamic victory here would have allowed for another invasion of Spain. John Sobieksi II, King of Poland; when he led the Polish Army and others to attack the Turks at Vienna. An Islamic victory here would have left Europe wide open heading East and West.

There were other major battles in Spain and Southeastern Europe (especially the second Mohacs) that pushed the Turks back. My history is a bit weak or I would list the major battles.
