Repeal/Reconsider Islam's "religion" status

Reader comment on item: Ban Islam?
in response to reader comment: WEST SHOULD REPEAL ISLAM'S 'RELIGION' STATUS

In reading the comments made by the readers, I find that George has already stated my own opinion and has expressed it very well for me. Militant islam should be deprived of its status as a recognized "religion". Instead, it should be seen as a hostile and aggressive political ideology, in the service of Arab imperialism and operating under the outward guise of a religion. We must not be gulled by this cunning deception. We must recognize it for what it is, or we will fail to do so at our peril.

Perhaps we need to re-define, or at least very carefully define, precisely what we here in the USA consider to be a religion. Certainly not every mad cult is entitled to be granted that dignity, and the world is full of them. Why should we tolerate something that is frankly out to conquer us -- at least someday, however far in the future? That is their stated goal, and there is no secret about it.

We have been far too lax and permissive about every storefront wacko "religion" that comes along. Most of them are harmless. Now one religion has found our Achilles heel -- which is our tolerance. We must take steps to cover that heel quickly, or suffer the dire consequences.
