Moderate Islam?

Reader comment on item: Ban Islam?

Submitted by Topnife (United States), Aug 29, 2007 at 14:41

I keep hearing about "moderate Islam". Where are they? If there are moderate Muslims around, they are disquietingly quiet! Why does CAIR, with a handful of members and mostly foreign funding, represent Islam in the USA? Where are the moderate imams, who might preach peace and tolerance? Does any Muslim really believe in peace and tolerance, or does he stand in the street and cheer when the buildings come tumbling down?

I certainly hope that there are some of the Muslim faith who are rational and tolerant. They need to speak up, teach their fellow Muslims the meaning of humanity. I do not recognize their Allah as the God that I was taught. He is not the same, nor is he a very nice God.

Meanwhile, I'd prefer that they stay in their own countries, and work to change them, rather than contaminating mine with their strange style of barbarianism.
