Charles Martel, you wrote: "To me, the real difference is between Wahabi, Arab Islam and the far-flung "folk Islam" of south Asia, Indonesia, and Bosnia -- which was more casual, nominal, and multi-cultural perforce the circumstances in which it developed."

The "far flung folk Islam of South Asia(Malaysia inclided), Indonesia, and Bosnia" that you think is more "casual' is just as deadly and violent and radical as the Saudi wahhabis. Aren't you reading about the deadly violence perpetrated against Christian, Hindu and Buddists minorities in these "folk " Islam countries??? Muslims in Thailand, Phillipines are killing other religious minorities on a daily basis!!! And where would you classify Islam in Pakistan - wahhabis or folk Islam??? My point being there is no difference between different kinds of Islam. All the differences are superficial and they all follow the same viloent Islam.
