NO!!! you do have a point but your understanding is wrong. The koran speaks of the people of the book and uses christians and jews. But it also means people or faiths in general that praise God and seek enlightenment. This include hindu,budist even atheist because they are people who are looking for answers and therefore seek for knowledge to understand and until they find it they will not believe in God or heaven. but the fact is that they are searching. This is quote from the koran. I usually don't paste but these save me a lot of time.

"Say: we believe in God and in what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il: Isaac, Jacob and The Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus and the Prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another, among them, and to God do we bow our will (in Islam)."
(Qur'an, Al-Imran 3:84)
