Public support of religious schools

Reader comment on item: Ban Islam?

Submitted by Janusz Kowalik (United States), Aug 29, 2007 at 13:35

Mr. Pipes is perfectly correct that public funds should not be spent supporting madrassas. I wish to add that this principle should apply to all religious schools. Brainwashing small children is a bad idea no matter wchich doctrine is used. After all, the three monotheistic religions have the same roots. Religion could be taught to older teenagers or adults who can reason and ask hard questions . Small children believe any nonsense presented to them as facts without any evidence or reasonable explantions. Consequently not one cent of the taxpayers money should be spent supporting, Jewish, Christian or Moslem schools.
