The answer to fundamentalist Islam cannot lie in offering a different variety of belief e.g. fundamentalist Christianity - even at the level of verbal hatred. We will need to go beyond fundamenatlist-literal beliefs of historical/mythological events and the directives perceived to arising from them. Democracy is really the target of Islamism and we need to establish this more soundly wherever threatened.
