Reader comment on item: How to End Terrorism:

Submitted by Octavio (Italy), Jan 6, 2007 at 15:38

Our weakness is petrol. We Westeners need petrol. Commenter "The Other Guy" claims that I am not giving enough thought to the root-causes of terrorism, blaming it all on Muslims. The root-causes of terrorism are colonialism, war, and our dependency on petrol. We went to war, in Iraq, because of petrol. And petrol is the main form of financing for jihadist terrorists. Petrol, petrol, petrol......... The sooner we find an alternative, the better. The sooner we develop alternative forms of energy, the sooner we can get out of Iraq and the Middle East. Muslim power to blackmail us dervives from our dependency on petrol.
