I am no expert, so I invite other informed comment, but who are the Chinese? Seems to me, here's a country with a more-or-less homogenoeous population, that is distinctive, and has some signs of enlightenment in its leadership They certainly look out for their own interests. As well, they have a growing economy and an exploding Christian population.

What possible deal could we make with them to undercut the arabs, muslims, and iranians, whose oil they really need. Are the Chinese aware that islam could bite them too? Insofar as oil goes, the only stable source is Canada. But what card could the West play with China that would pull the rug from under the islamiists and leave them eating sand?
