Islam and Terror

Reader comment on item: How to End Terrorism:

Submitted by Peter Jones (United States), Dec 5, 2006 at 10:25

I am compelled to take issue with your stance on Islamic Terror and Islam's 1300-years of aggression against the House of War ( all that is not already Muslim, remember?)

The numerous instances of deceit, blood-vengeance, sanctioned rape and murder (highlighted by the usual decapitation), shaping "revelation" from Allah to facilitate removal of moral, and economic speedbumps that threatened the upward rise of The Prophet--are in themselves sufficient to establish that Islam is at bottom a pragmatic program of cold-blooded Imperialism trying, without success, to present itself to the world as a religion.

It appears to me. Mr. Pipes, that you are committing the fatal maneuver of failing to look objectively at the history and the present face of Islam throughout the world.

CAIR, ISNA, the fabulous Flying Imams, the ludicrous proposal by Mr Ellison to take his oath on the Koran, and the daily evidences of Islam's unwavering intention to achieve One World, One Religion, One (Theocratic) government are all too persuasive. Current American culture reminds me of our late miniature poodle, Freddie.

Years ago as we drove through Yellowstone Park with Freddie in the car, windows rolled-up, car in constant motion past the occasional road-side BEARS, Freddie, a master of direct barking confrontation of any dog he had ever seen, regardless of the size differential, remained mute and motionless, pointedly NOT LOOKING AT THE BEARS. He was saying to himself I am sure--BoyoBoy I sure am glad there are not any bears around here. but if there were I'd really show 'em who's boss.

I HAVE BEEN READING YOUR STUFF FOR YEARS, AND CANNOT ACCOUNT FOR YOUR PRESENT INSISTENCE THAT ISLAM ITSELF IS SOMEHOW BLAMELESS IN THE HISTORY OF BLOODSHED IN THE NAME OF ISLAM.

The writing is on the wall -writ large-, and we as a society, culture, and nation are becoming, daily., more wanting.
I am not interested in this comment being posted, but I Do want a response from you that presents the basis for your stance on Islam and Terror.

Respectfully,
Peter G Jones
