faqi,

you came up with some outrageous figure about 500,000 japanese killed. i dont even have to re-read your post to remember that. but though i can understand it was a quote from truman, please go deeper and find out exactly why truman made the statement. truman had been presented with casualty estimites consisting of all allied deaths. the decision to drop the bomb had kept truman up for nights on end because he didnt relish the thought of bombing civilian areas. the statement was made in the heat of battle and many who knew him say it was his anger at having to make the decision in the first place. maybe the word disinformation was a little too tough but its a hell of a lot better then ignorant.

as for me understanding english, well all i can say is i have a college degree from a united states university so my understanding of english must be at least competent. lol and i thank you for that comment. it put a smile on my face. have a good day.
