To Sidda:

Unfortunately, most Muslims today don't seem to be doing their homework. Upon arriving in the West, some tend to fall away from Islam, partially or completely. A good number of them tend to just hang around with each other but have nothing new to offer as far as knowledge of Islam is concerned and run around in mental circles. And among this group, some develop a visceral hatred for the West for one reason or another. Toleration of dissenting opinions becomes anathema to them.

And then there are a few Muslims like myself who are not afraid to explore. I was raised in a Christian environment and went to a Christian college. My experiences have helped me to become a better Muslim, and at the same time, to be appreciative of the West and what it stands for...in other words, I see myself as an Americanized Muslim and have embraced the spirit that made Islam a great civilizing force so long ago...the quest for knowledge and the betterment of myself as a Muslim and a human being and of the community in which I live.

Unfortunately, Islamists are far better organized than people like myself. They have access to funds from mosques all over the country and from outside the USA as well. They do their best to silence dissenting opinions from fellow Muslims like myself through intimidation and violence. They have access to powerful people everywhere. They can say the most outrageous things and be given a free pass without being challanged by people like myself.

I know what their goal is but am unable to go against them alone...all I want to do is to live a peaceful life with my wife here in the USA. But these guys need to be confronted head-on and not defended, otherwise we'll all be in trouble.
