Reader comment on item: Sudden Jihad Syndrome (in North Carolina)

Submitted by D Newland (United States), Mar 15, 2006 at 10:16

Im not trying to defend this guy but if you listen closely to what he is saying, he in his mind is just carry out the call of his God Allah as he interpets the Koran.

Americans need to quit "freakin out", Bush and Co. and whatever other Liberals come after him will be able to protect America, about as well as they have done pre and post 9-11. Half assed at best.

In fact the more we freak the more we become vunerable to attacks.
Ben Franklin stated "Those who give up liberty for the sake of security deserve neither."

As we change and slaughter the Constitution, for security, Government alone can't and never will be able to give us, as the infighting of countrymen begins the enemy abroad laughs and say "Job well done, let the confusion reign in."

In America, spiritually we need to pray to God to help us protect ourselves and give us favor over enemies of freedom.
However on the physical side we need to keep our heads and wits about us. I would recruit every American to bear arms and use our Constitution to empower individuals instead of destroying and whittling it down.

If, a man like Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar went ballistic, at least one of those students trained in bearing arms could have stopped a man like this before he got five feet after getting in his car.

Americans must begin to learn to protect themselves. We need to know the enemy, but from a standpoint "Is my life, liberty, and property threatened and if so these ideas alone, must be defended til death.
We need to become self-sufficent again. As we've become more socialistic over the years with big government to handle our every need, we've become gluttonous and lazy.

Most Americans don't have the guts to even protest in the name of , much less die for, liberty. The younger generations don't even know what real liberty is as it becomes less and less every year, as government grows bigger and bigger.

I pray that American ultimately doesn't lose their own religious freedoms because we freak and label, reacting with radical actions before logical thought.
