Taheri-azar No Different From Bin Laden

BS"D

The following is an elaboration of an email I sent to a blogger who has covered this story.

Michelle Malkin writes about this, and frets, as do we all, at why it is so difficult for the authorities to lable these lone loonies as "terrorists" just because they don't fit the "profile" of belonging to a known or suspected terrorist organization. I submit that the reason we can't identify the lone bad actor as a part of a larger group is because we aren't using the appropriate definition of that group.

Ms. Malkin quotes someone named Athena as uncovering these descriptors of Taheri-azar as, "Lone wolf actor - antisocial behavior."

...to which some of what "Dr.Sanity" writes on the subject of Muslim terrorists and "antisocial personality disorder" is extremely relevant,

In fact, they all fit the profile of someone suffering from that pathology. A formerly unobtrusive Dr. Jekyll suddenly turns into a Mr. Hyde, and no one saw it coming. For example, who would have then thought that the harmless-looking comic little geekoid tagalong shown to the far right would turn out to be so evil?

(Without knowing who these people are, I would have put my money on the one to the far left.)

I would also submit that the potential for them to propagate terror is almost certainly more dependant on the indicated mental pathology than on any other factor. Still, a "religion" that elevates this personality type to the status of role-model and hero certainly must bear some responsible. But it is not the root cause. It merely serves to unify (as best the empathy-challenged self-centered can be unified, i.e., as a mob), channel and focus their destructive energies outward. (And never mind what will happen when all external threats to their fragile paranoid egos are eliminated, because they can always burn that bridge when the come to it.)

The more I think about it, the more I realize what a genius their "prophet" had to be to
choreograph such a magnificent danse macabre that so well exploits the innate 'talents' of the un-dead among them, while forcing the potentially normal to act merely as supporting chorus. Pure evil genius.

Of course, without Islam the wild ones would still be prancing about in their dance of death, only they would be doing so without the benefit of the pseudo-legitimacy they accrue by appearing to be carrying out the will of their god. They would also find it more difficult to find places to hide, and so would be easier to identify and neutralize. Then, and only then, could they be called a law enforcement problem, as opposed to the very real threat to global stability they currently pose.

Unfortunately, though Islam is not what is causing their antisocial behavior, it is responsible for the direction and intensity that behavior takes. So it is an important factor, and should be included in a differential diagnosis, especially since it is the one common denominator that they all seize on as a justification for that behavior. Hence, any "antisocial" behavior coupled with even a hint of Islamic influence, should immediately tag any individual or group ‘terrorist'.

We must not dismiss the connection as irrelevant out of fear of offending. Our very security, and possibly even survival, depend upon this.
