Shoving democracy down their throats? Talk about an oxymoron. Democracy is a blessing. Can you shove freedom down someone's throat?

I suppose they didn't feel like they were oppressed or being slaughtered by their own leaders, right? Did you feel like democracy was being shoved down your throat here in the U.S.? You can't shove it down people's throats. They have the freedom to chose what they want their country to be and who they want running it and how it is run. It seems to me that there are insurgents, terrorists, militant radicals -- whatever we're calling them these days -- that are shoving their oppressive ideals down everyone's throats. Or I suppose you would have been happy to live under Saddam, right? It's so easy to sit in your comfy chair, in a safe home, typing at your computer and pass judgment on the Iraqis and act like we're oppressing them, etc. If I was living under a ruler like that, I'd cheer on whoever it was that came to kick his butt.
