Why I Love my Religion

Reader comment on item: Cartoons and Islamic Imperialism

I am not here to kill you, ask you to convert to Islam, steer a plane into your buildings, or do a suicide bombing. In fact, I'm here to tell you that I love my religion, Islam.

However, I have a strong dislike for the terrorists that do commit such acts, for they disgrace my religion: my peaceful, perfect religion.

Many of you may have studied Islam, and by studied, maybe you mean by reading the Qu'ran, or...

maybe you mean by listening to the media. If you mean "by listening to the media," then I have a question for you.

If the Qu'ran is our (meaning Muslims) one and only source of the truth, then how can you disregard that and listen to what people, just people say? This is what I truly do not understand.

Let me tell you right now: If you are a Christian, fine. Be happy! If you are a Jew, fine. Be happy! If you are a Hindu, then fine. Be happy! No matter what religion you are, I'm telling you that you have the right, the freedom to be whatever you choose to be! It is your faith. Nobody has the right to change it.

Muslims know this.

You know, when you are insulting the Qur'an, you should actually just be insulting some Muslims. Not the Qur'an, because it, itself, is not corrupt. In fact, it is just a group of people. Please think about this: How can one judge 1.3 billion people from the acts of some hundred?! Is that not insanity?

Plus, if over 1.3 billion people (that's 1,300,000,000 people) were all terrorists and out to kill people, wouldn't they have succeeded? Wouldn't the whole world be gone?

Please consider this and let me know your views. Thank you.
