Reader comment on item: Cartoons and Islamic Imperialism
in response to reader comment: ...the greatest blasphemy of all

Lubna, I think you missed Jason's point. I understood him to mean, if I may summarize, the IF a cartoon were punishable by death, THEN, by comparison, calling Jesus only a prophet would also be punishable by death, if Christians were inclined to apply the same logic.

Which we're not. (How many murders of writers and artists has the pope ordered recently, in response to unending ridicule of the Catholic church and its beliefs in the West? How many deadly riots took place in Rome following the desecration of the Church of the Nativity or the sacking of Sarah's tomb?)

I won't bother attempting to address your cartoonish depiction of the Holy Trinity disagreeing with itself about what time the sun should rise. If that's not deliberately offensive, I don't know what is. (But I respect your right to free speech, even when you wish to be offensive to Christians.)

I am delighted to hear that we are entitled to our own beliefs. Honestly. I've been waiting to hear that. I wish people like you worked in Saudi Customs. Or, even better, if people lke you were imams in Saudi Arabia or Iran or London.

Oh, by the way, let's quote the Bible for a change (that book that never gets past Saudi Customs):

John 9:35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out, he found him, and said to him "Do you believe in the Son of God?"

John 10:36 Jesus answered, "Can you say the one whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world blasphemes because I said I am the Son of God?"
