Shameful UK and USA response

Reader comment on item: Cartoons and Islamic Imperialism

Submitted by Jaladhi (United States), Feb 7, 2006 at 12:37

It is shameful that the governments of UK and USA have kowtowed to the Islamic double standard when it comes to Islam. These are the same governments that lecture the world about importance of freedom of press and democray and yet have always supported and are supporting dictatorial regimes for whatever reasons. When it suits us we support dictators.

When the Europeans could have used our support, we ran in other direction. Not only the government, even the press in USA did not support their European counterparts by not publishing these cartoons. May be that was prudent or hypocritic but isn't it self -censorship? While appeasing Muslims in the name of political correctness we are slowly eroding away our freedoms and don't even know it.

Notice that there was no rage expressed by Muslims when the cartoons were first published last September. Its only after a Danish Imam who went around the Muslim countries complaining about it, the riots started there and the so called "peaceful" protest marches in UK in which the protesters displayed placards threatening to kill anyone insulting Islam.

So here is a lesson for the Western countries which keep hoping that Muslim immigrants will assimilate in their countries - just forget it. Once a Muslim, always a Muslim and don't expect any allegiance to your country. Will the Westen governments learn anything from this incidence and rethink their immigration policies and stop Muslim immigartion to their shores? I think not.
