Reader comment on item: Cartoons and Islamic Imperialism
in response to reader comment: Islamic sensitivity and tolerance: ultimate oxymorons!

Nuray, you claim that "Prophet Muhammed, peace upon him, who is the most influential person in history as the only man to have been both a founder of a major world religion and a major military/political leader."

In a nutshell, this is the problem with Islam: "Muhammad was a religious/military/political leader." As a result, at it's very core Islam is simultaneously militant and religious. This combination is considered politically functional, but, in fact is lethal. This core arrangement of Islam has fostered the (ultimate) social disaster of Imperialistic Islam, chronic inter-tribal warfare and finally, despotic tyrannies wherever Islam reigns. It has led to deep social and spiritual stagnation for Muslims worldwide. This must be extremely frustrating for Muslims ... who have been led to believe such grandiose statements as: "Prophet Muhammed, peace upon him, who is the most influential person in history..." and then must resign yourselves to living in tyrannies. It's sad, actually.

The foremost task for Islam and Muslims .. in order to be able to survive and to interact in a productive and cooperative manner with the rest of the world .. is to find a way to separate the military from the religious. A different political model needs to emerge from this endeavor. The first step in this task is for Muslims to dismantle and conquer the dictatorships that run throughout the Islamic world. This needs to be done purposefully, in order to create discreet domains for Mosque and State. Hopefully while engaged in this life-enhancing work, a spiritual awakening will occur and you will be able to find new purpose and meaning for your existence.

An awakening will not occur while trying to regress back into a fantastical "Golden Age of Islam" in order to achieve false dreams of world domination .. fake dreams fed to mainly poor and uneducated masses by despots intent upon greed and nothing else. Educated Muslims have nowhere to go and nothing to do but fester in their thwarted plans within these awful tyrannies. Backwards bullying will lead to nothing but certain disaster so you must move forward. Lose the dictators and live free.
