Dear Nasr,

I must say you have an unreliable source of information when it comes to the crusades. The crusades took place as a response to muslim invasions and agression. You asked where did the Byzantine empire originated from? Well I'm sure you've heard about the eastern Roman empire which had it capital in Constantinople. That's the empire that became the Byzantine empire, and it was a Christian empire.

The Byzantines never asked muslims to invade them. The muslim invaded as part of their Jihad to violently spread Islam. The muslims also invaded Spain, Sicilly,Greece. Do you think these countries ask the muslims to invade them. In the face of such agression The european Christian responded by lauching the crusades which put Islam on the defensive.

The coptic Christians never used violence to defend themselves. Non-violence is one of their basic creed, but that does not mean they welcomed the Islamic take over.

Islam tried to take over Christian europe for centuries. As a matter of fact they managed to occupy easter Europe for several centuries. The Islamic threat was defeated in 1699 after the Ottoman suffered a number of defeats and were forced out of eastern europe. Thist triumph was made official by the treaty of Karlowizt.

So please Nasr don't tell me Islam is religion of peace or that Islam was not spread by the sword. The Christians did what they had to do to keep their faith, and when we look at the world today we can say they succeeded in doing that. Therefore Christians today have to do the same things to defeat facist islamic creeps like Bin Laden and the like.
