Reader comment on item: Cartoons and Islamic Imperialism

Submitted by Derrick Conley (Canada), Feb 13, 2006 at 00:22

Since Sept. 11th there seems to be, especially within the western media, a desire to see intolerant behavior within the Islamic community as the product of extremism only. To think otherwise is inconceivable to the educated intellectually arrogant. It's much easier to explain the barbaric and intolerant behavior of whole societies on the provocation of the aggressive economically dominant ones.

Careful examination of world events in recent years would suggest otherwise. There was far more outrage from the muslim community in response to a few cartoons then to all of the atrocious acts of Islamic terrorism in recent years combined. See the recent demonstrations in the muslim world for what they are. A billion and a half ethnocentric and intolerant people who have been taught through their Imams and despotic leaders to blame the Jews and the west for their abject poverty and any other negative thing that happens to them.
