You asked your readers to wait for Efraim Karsh, Islamic Imperialism: A History (Yale) when an excellent treatise is available now. I highly recommend The Legacy of Jihad, edited by Andrew G. Bostom, M.D., Prometheus Books, Amherst, 2005.
