Reader comment on item: Cartoons and Islamic Imperialism
in response to reader comment: ...the greatest blasphemy of all

Submitted by Jason (United States), Mar 8, 2006 at 11:34

At least one person got my point!!!! Lubna chooses to ignore the two key points of my email.

First, Christians believe the Christ is the Son of God, so ANY statement to the contrary (no matter how reverant) is blasphemy. Drawing a picture of Muhammad MAY be bad (that has even been challenged in this thread), but attempting to totally destroy Christian belief by calling the Son of God a mere prophet is far worse.

Second, when non-Christians commit such blasphemy (as Muslims do everyday), Christians don't go beserk and start killing Muslims and burning the embassies of Muslim countries. That may have happened centuries ago, but the Christian world has grown up since the days of the Reformation.

Another point Lubna misses is that the whole opening diatribe is meant to be satirical. It's my attempt at Rush Limbagh's "using obsurdity (my diatribe against Islamic blasphemy of Christ) to ridicule the obsurd (Muslims rioting over some pictures in a newspaper)".
