Reader comment on item: Cartoons and Islamic Imperialism

So, that's it. You invoke free speech and the "right to insult and blaspheme". You also noted that Muslims also dish out the same against others. Sure. So just to confirm, do you really accept that they can do that to you? You're fine with it? In no instance, when Muslims were printing those anti-Christian or anti-Jewish cartoons, did any of you protest? Because if you did, then you're just the same as the Muslims.

And is that really what you want - a world where everyone has free speech, and everyone just keeps abusing others? Well, I suppose that would suit you more, as judging from Yahoo! and other forums, conservatives are definitely better when it comes to crude insults.

Also, while I can accept Westerners making cartoons like that against Muslims, I take offense at Mr. Pipes' repeated use of the phrase "Islamic imperialism". A Western conservative, who probably supports Western imperialism and colonization, has no right to accuse other cultures of imperialism.

And another thing - I notice that conservatives are beginning to tire of the "imperialism" tag - they are saying that that's always what other people say against them. Well, we say it because it's true. You people are imperialists. Do you deny it? If you disagree, just deny it openly and not beat around the bush (pun intended). And now look - conservatives are using the phrse themselves, the same ones who decried other people for using it against them. Well, I'd call that hypocritical.
Oh, and in case you're asking, I'm not Muslim, I'm Christian. Sorry to disappoint you.

So that you can't claim ignorance, here's a definition of "imperialism": Related to the word "empire", it refers to the action of building up an empire - meaning any actions, including, but NOT LIMITED TO overt military force to extend one's nation's influence by controlling other nations, either directly through military conquest/annexation, or indirectly, through puppet governments and such. Other non-overt means of imperialism are: economic destabilisation, sabotage, foreign intervention, embargos, interfering in elections, assassination, espionage, etc. And the US has done every single one of the things listed above to other countries, all in the name of "promoting democracy" (read: promoting capitalism).

If you have other definitions of imperialism, then say it here.
