in response to reader comment: Islam dying?

Submitted by Rick House (United States), May 29, 2006 at 20:52

Islam is dying. The third oldest desert religion is dying because it lacks religious and civil toleration for other social systems and it has reached its geographic limits. Let me expand on these reasons one at a time...

Islam requires supremacy where it is practiced. It does not tolerate other beliefs within its area of influence because its laws and practices are in conflict with all other systems of governance and religion. For centuries Islam has remained a viable religion because it was concentrated in geographically isolated regions -- the Arabian peninsula, North Africa, Turkey, Singapore, Indonesia, etc. Within these regions muslins are able to maintain their social-religious civil construct because it grew quickly to dominate the region it annexed. However, when petro-dollars are added to their social-geographic equation, rapid population growth resulted, leading to Islamic expansionism. (Yes, Islamic expansion!) Throughout the world today we see conflict and unrest concentrated where Islam is in the process of expansion -- Europe, Philippines, East Timor, Kosovo, Kashmir, Sudan, Crete, southern Russia, etc.

Sadly, muslims have not realized that their expansionism is doomed to failure. When their petro-dollars run out, and they will run out, muslims will realize that the regions they have expanded into are not socially or geographically isolated enough and therefore not viable centers for long-term Islamic communities -- and like the Reconquista of the old, muslims and their Islamic faith will be pushed back into their former isolated regions of the world. Still more sadly, large numbers of muslims will die in these older regions because without oil income they will not be able to feed and house their bloated populations. In the end a few muslims will be left to return to their former pastoral occupations... These few will try to cling to their faith, but in the end they will fail... The new highly progressive global world order will not stop nor weep for them and their passing. Islam will die and its death will be a tragic loss to the world.
