Reader comment on item: How the Cartoon Protests Harm Muslims [by Leading to a Separation of Civilizations]
in response to reader comment: Love-Hate Relationship and Muslim Double Standards

Submitted by Amir (United States), Feb 18, 2006 at 18:22

"Due to political or religious reasons Muslims have never stopped criticizing the Christian West. "

As if the West has ever stopped criticizing the Muslim East in the last 1000 years.

"However, they cannot survive or enjoy the luxury of life without acquiring the necessary skills, services and goods including food and luxury goods from the West. Consider the following"

Why can't they survive? They used to do just fine without these luxuries a few centuries ago.

"There is no modern Muslim science. Complete dependence on the West by the virtue of oil otherwise back to Middle Ages."

There are doctors and scientists in every Muslim country. Many Pakistani doctors are even US hospitals. Many more are in Pakistan, Iran, and every country. If there are no scientists in Muslim countries, why is USA worried about Iran developing nuclear bombs? According to your logic, Iran (since they don't have any scientist) should not be able to build nuclear weapons. What's all the whining about?

"Even the old oriental science and medicine go back to old Indian, Persian or Greek advances"

Nonsense. Khwarizmi, Ibn Sina, Biruni, Alhazen, Al-Razi, Averroes, Al-Jazari, Abu Nasr Mansur, Al-Kindi, etc were Muslim (they were not Hindus, Zorastian, or Christian -- some were even religious Muslims).

"Western medicine: Either they send their patients to Europe or the US for treatment or send their students to these countries to learn from their universities. No Muslim student or patient is sent to China or Korea. Very few are sent to Russia."

There are medical Universities say in Pakistan. What do you think is Aga Khan University http://www.aku.edu/ .? A kindergarten school? Even if what you claimed is true, East Asia has recently risen as the leader in technology and science. If hostility between Muslims and the West grows, they now do have other options.

"When they flee their dictatorships they don't go to Russia or China but to the US or Europe. Most of them are found in "infidel" countries enjoying their democracy, get married to Christians, and concoct plots against the West from these countries."

That's bogus nonsense. Most people don't 'flee' from dictatorship. People migrate to countries mostly for economic reasons. Why do you think Mexicans come to USA? To flee Mexican dictatorship? Percentage wise, more Indians go to Gulf countries (UAE, Kuwait, Qatar) than Muslims coming to the West. There are one million Filipinos working in Saudi Arabia. Do you think these Filipinos were escaping dictatorship of Philippines to come and work in Saudi Arabia? Yes, many Muslims migrate to the West for the same reason why Indians migrate to UAE (money), but if the immigration laws are restricted and if there are other options, this will stop. Trends change all the time. Some rich Muslims now go to South Africa or Singapore for medical care. Most electronic gadgets landing on UAE ports are built in East Asian countries like Taiwan, South Korea.

"They complain about European far-right parties but are most fanatic, patriotic and nationalists in their countries."

Just like European whine and cry about Muslim countries but have a large and growing far-right parties and bigots?

"They never stop glorifying their past because their present is so disappointing."

The GDP growth rate of many Muslim countries is 6-8% and over. Look it up on CIA factbook. If this trend continues for 50 or 100 years, you will eat your words.

"Minorities are suppressed most brutally."

No they are not. How are minorities suppressed more brutality in Indonesia, Malaysian, Mali and UAE than Muslims in France? Speaking of minorities, consider this from NY times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/12/opinion/12burcharth.html

"For 20 years, Muslims in Denmark have been denied a permit to build
mosques in Copenhagen. What's more, there are no Muslim cemeteries in
Denmark, which means that the bodies of Muslims who die here have to
be flown back to their home countries for proper burial."

Want another example?

http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/hrrpt/2000/nea/index.cfm?docid=824

"The Government of Dubai Emirate donated a parcel of land in Jebel Ali
in 1998 for the construction of a facility to be shared by four
Protestant congregations and a Catholic congregation. Also in 1998,
land was designated in Jebel Ali for the construction of a second
Christian cemetery, and Abu Dhabi Emirate donated land for the
expansion of existing Christian burial facilities. In 1999 land was
designated in Ras Al-Khaimah Emirate for the construction of a new
Catholic church."

Now compare that with this:

Tennessee Residents Reject Plans for Muslim Cemetery

http://www.arabnews.com/?page=4┬žion=0&article=57036&d=4&m=1&y=2005&pix=world.jpg&category=World

"Residents near Memphis, Tennessee have objected to plans for a Muslim
cemetery, suggesting that the cemetery could bring "terrorism and
disease" to the area."

Who is more xenophobic and intolerant? UAE or Tennessee -- Malaysia or Denmark?

"Guest workers from poor countries like Pakistan or the Philippines are treated like rubbish."

As if they are treated better in France. Illegal Mexican workers are treated like rubbish in USA.

"They abhor Christian missionary work "

Christians abhor Muslim missionaries too. There is a lot more propaganda about how Islam is taking over the world in the West. Turn on the rightwing radio or just read the posts on this board.

"but never stop doing missionary work to convert desperate people to Islam"

Same Christians who whine about growing Muslim population in the West, support and promote spreading their religion in Africa and Asia (including Muslim countries). Millions (and if not billions) of dollars (far more than Muslims spend) are spent on evangelizing the world.

"On their TV channels (BTW a product from the West) they boast about how many people have been converted to Islam so far."

I guess you have never heard Christian radio? Speaking of using products invented by the West, why does the West use soap if they hate Muslims? (soap invented by ar-Razi) All your arguments backfire on you. Why does the West uses gun powder (invented by Chinese but first used as weapon by Muslims -- look that up if you doubt me).

"Muslims who don't believe in all religions including Islam."

There is no such thing. If a Muslim doesn't believe in Islam, he is not a Muslim but atheist. Islam is a religion, not an ethnicity like Jewish.

"There are no contributions to charities but they are very generous with spending money to satisfy their needs.

That's just false nonsense too.

"Such behaviour calls for psychiatric help."

I am not sure about that, but your behaviour certainly does.
