Muslim Isolation

Reader comment on item: How the Cartoon Protests Harm Muslims [by Leading to a Separation of Civilizations]

Dr. Pipes says that Muslims should negotiate their way to modernity, not isolation.

Well.....wasn't that always the problem? It simply ain't gonna happen. Muslim countries were always and still are controlled by hostile and intransigent men cemented to the worst and least understood, ideas of the seventh century. Small wonder then that they are intellectually and practically impoverished.

Back in the day when the West had a clear identity and self image the Church was instrumental in removing 'enemies' from Europe. By 1492 the Jews and Muslims were kicked out. Regardless of what one thinks of this painful and awful 'aktion' Europe was now ruled by white Christians who increasingly demanded freedom of speech, religion, the media, and education. Nowhere in the world today can such movements be found among Islamic countries, moderate or strict.

The real problem today is that the West depends on the Islamic countries for oil. And because of this none of the West countries has the guts to say out loud what all of us know only too well: that eventually there will be another 9/11....Only this time it will be something REALLY nasty - a small but dirty A-bomb - likely in NYC or Florida (any place where a lot of Jews live). At that point the West really WILL have to get serious about defining, declawing, marginalizing, and deporting its enemy fifth column. Yes, and blowing up an Islamic nuclear reactor or two.

This is what should be happening right now, not this pretense of being in a limited war against will-o'-the-wisp "insurgents" or checking the bags of little old ladies at Western airports. Are these same people and bags being checked when travelers board trains or ships? Not likely. Pure craziness and futility. Bin Laden must be laughing ....at the easy defeat of a powerful but irresolute enemy.

Or perhaps the West should simply give up now and sue for a good deal as 'dhimmi' states of the caliphate. As for Jews, the safest place in the world is very soon going to be Israel.
