It seems like you need to brush up on your history. Before Islam came to existence, The countries we know today as Egypt and Syria were part of the Byzantine empire. When they were conquered by muslims most of the churches were turned into mosque and the Christian populations became second class citizens (dhimmis).

Just because the Jihadist failed does not mean they did not desire to destroy Christianity. You mean to tell me when the Ottomans attempted to take over Europe in 1684 they ony meant to tour Europe. No. After they captured Constantinople in 1453 They turned the St Sophia basilica into a mosque. That was an expression of their desire to wipe out Christianity. The jihadist are fighting until the world becomes "dar-al-Isam". That's their creed is it not? To them the world is divided between the world of Islam and the world of war.

People who have such twisted and nazi like ideologies need to be confronted and defeated.
