I have read the Koran. Depends on what you take literally as to what mindset you develop out of it... and largely, I suspect, on your religious training from your parents and local Imam or other mosque leader.

There is plenty there about jihad, Jews being turned into apes and pigs, virgins for martyrdom, not trusting Christians, etc. to go along with the oft-cited "there is no compulsion in religion" and other such moderate-sounding passages. Even more in the Hadith, much of which I have also read.

I would also invite Muslims to study the life and works of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Gospels and the Epistles of Paul, as well as engage in a Torah study so that they, too, might come to understand love for their fellow man and for God.
