A central tenet of the Muslim faith is that Islam is to be spread to all people of the world BY ANY AND ALL MEANS, FAIR OR FOUL, and all Muslims should be totally intolerant of anything that is suspected of preventing that. And, for them the ends justify the means, thus what you "expect" in reciprocity is actually a violation of one of Islam's most basic principles. And, there is no possible compromise by Muslims on this point, that would be blasphemy for a Muslim.. Many Christians have a similar intolerance, for example abortion for Catholics and many others.

And, this total and unchangeable intolerance is beat into their heads in madrases as children and 5 times a day in Mosques. Their religiously demanded intolerance includes the belief that killing infidels (any person who is not Muslim, in their view) is not only appropriate, but demanded by their faith.
