Mosques in the US have Crescents and AdhanReader comment on item: Churches in Saudi Arabia? Submitted by John G. Spethman MD (United States), Mar 31, 2008 at 23:18 Dear Houssam, In the United States, mosques can display the Crescent. Every mosque I have seen in the US has the Crescent. The Church in Doha does not have bells or a cross. It is following the section of dhimmitude in Sharia stating that religious symbols cannot be displayed nor bells rung. The Adhan can be broadcast from mosques. The volume is dependent on the noise level ordinance for the area. I will say that it has created hostilities with non-muslims not only in the US but in England and Scotland where the noise levels bothered the non-muslims in the area. You are partially correct that Churches can be constructed but there are obstacles to this. In Egypt for example, it takes the approval of President Mubarak to repair a Church. The Church in Doha is being constructed because the country's leader has given his approval. Technically, Sharia prohibits the construction of any new places of worship where Islam is dominant. The Sultan is violating Sharia. It is a welcome gesture of respect for other religions though. There should be reciprocity for Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhist, ect. to have places of worship in Islamic countries. Muslims are free to build mosques, schools, and cultural centers in the West. Unfortunately, I am not encouraged that this good will will continue. I have read posts from muslims on this site that are very much in favor of mosques being built in the West but when asked to support the construction of a Churches or other places of worship, religious schoosl or Center in Pakistan for example, the silence is deafening. Mohammed did state that their should be no other religions worshipped in Arabia other than Islam. If you believe that this statement is meant for all time, then ayas that espouse violence against non-muslims are for all times too. Instead of believing that Islam is a religion of peace, non-muslims should accept that Islam promotes violence, should expect violent acts against them by muslims as shown in the film Fitna proves. You can't deny this because you believe whatever is commanded in the Qur'an or hadiths is for all time. No? I look forward to your reply.
