Thank you Rebecca Moulds for what you said,

That is exactly what we muslims say. we don't impose our ideals on others, we have to face God who will tell us our deeds. fullstop

You have your ideals and we have ours - that is no compulsion in religion,

Crusaders were motivated by religion - by the pope who will have to answer infront of God for the deeds he did.

Similarly Islam do not preach violence - people preach violence who will face God .

BUT and there is a BIG BUT - selfdefence is authorised in Islam

Agresson against Islam and Muslims in the 20th century on is the highest, self defense is legitimate
