Response to Gabrielle-Chures in Saudi ArabiaReader comment on item: Churches in Saudi Arabia? Submitted by Claire (United States), May 4, 2008 at 01:48 Gabrielle, that seems quite extreme to do to the Saudis what fundamentalist Islamists do to others. Not exactly Christian, is it? Of course we see how effective committed non-violence has been. Ghandi convinced the British, but it didn't stop the Islamists. And the Dalai Lama may be the darling of the West, but he is venomously hated by the Chinese. In fact, I fear for his safety as he meets with them. The peaceful Native Americans traded with the British and then found themselves moved to reservations on poor lands in the land-grabs. The Spanish conquistadors ruthlessly attacked even the most peaceful inhabitants of South and Central America. I don't see religion generally as being very loving, kind, peaceful, forgiving, etc. It seems like a lot of pretty talk combined with endless hatred, war, and domination and control of people.
